  1. Tim Thomas collaborated on two of these ''because it's the cup'' promos for the NHL playoffs - this one was the most personal, as it chronicled in images and words his rise from anonymity to championship glory.

Because storybook endings don't typically start in Flint, Michigan.

Because all his life people said he couldn't.

    Because adversity builds character.

Because most people don't get to Boston
    via Houston, Sweden, Finland, Birmingham...

Because the road less travelled can end at the top.

    Because it's the cup.

  2. If the video is no longer available (and, fret not folks, the damn NHL will make it unavailable sooner rather than later!) - you missed out on something.

The images exerted from old footage showing the ''Flint, Vehicle City'' entrance gates, a ten year-old Timmy with his first team in junior, immediately cutting to a twenty year-old youngster proving himself in the minors, to his spectacular saves in 2011 and finally hoisting the cup - that cup, yeah - well, it is... was... a well-done montage.

To have it narrated by Timmy himself made it even that much better.

A great athlete, great goaltender and, most of all, a great guy.
